Lobito Atlantic Railway (LAR) participated in the SARA Rail, held from 20 to 23 October 2026 in Johannesburg, South Africa, alongside the Angolan delegation led by the Secretary of State for Land Transport, Jorge Bengue.

Represented by its Chief Operating Officer, Nicolas Gregoir, LAR contributed to two panel discussions:

  • Corridor Optimisation – From Infrastructure to Operational Excellence, addressing operational efficiency, rolling stock productivity, safety, reliability and railway skills development.
  • Unlocking Cross-Border Trade through Strategic Rail Corridors: Lessons and Opportunities from Lobito, focusing on cross-border coordination, trade facilitation, investment and regional economic integration.

Beyond the panel discussions, the conference provided opportunities to engage with the SARA Board of Directors, fellow railway operators, suppliers and international institutions, strengthening relationships and exploring avenues for future cooperation

The event also provided a platform to share LAR’s operational experience and progress in strengthening rail transport and logistics along the Lobito Corridor, supporting regional trade and economic integration.
