In the first half of 2026, Lobito Atlantic Railway (LAR) reduced the carbon intensity of its operations by 27 percent, from 70 to 51 kg CO₂e per metric ton.

On the Lobito–Kolwezi rail line, emissions stand at approximately 69 kg CO₂e per metric ton, representing a reduction of up to 71% compared to comparable road transport alternatives.
