Lobito Atlantic Railway named Railway Operator of the Year at the Angola Hub Transport and Logistics Summit
Luanda, 1 October 2026 – Lobito Atlantic Railway (LAR) has been named Railway Operator of the Year, an award presented on 30 September at the second edition of the Angola Hub Transport and Logistics Summit, in Luanda.
The award was received on behalf of LAR by Artur Silva, Commercial Director, during the Summit’s closing ceremony, which brought together representatives of the Government, companies, institutions and other stakeholders from Angola’s transport and logistics sectors.
The award recognises LAR’s performance as concessionaire of the Benguela Railway and of the Mineral Terminal at the Port of Lobito, as well as its central role in connecting the country’s interior to the Port of Lobito, contributing to the movement of cargo and to greater logistics integration with the region’s markets.
“This recognition belongs to our teams, who work every day to ensure a safe, reliable and efficient rail operation along the Lobito Corridor,” said Artur Silva.
During the Summit, LAR also took part in the debate on Africa’s strategic corridors, with Ottoniel Manuel, member of the Board of Directors, moderating the panel dedicated to the topic.
Under its concession, LAR is responsible for operating and maintaining the railway line between the Port of Lobito and Luau, on the border with the Democratic Republic of the Congo, offering a more efficient and competitive logistics alternative for Angola and the region.
This second edition of the Summit presented 25 awards in different categories to companies, institutions, projects and individuals linked to the development of the transport and logistics sectors in Angola.
LAR remains committed to continuing to strengthen the capacity and reliability of its rail operation, in the service of the Angolan economy and regional trade.
